Power Rangers Samurai Characters Confirmed

The Power Rangers Samurai title, story, character names, and cast has recently been confirmed. The show is set to premiere next year in 2011.

A new generation of Power Rangers must master the mystical and ancient Samurai Symbols of Power which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest, and Earth. Under the guidance of their all-knowing mentor and the aid of their devoted animal Zords, they battle the dark forces of the Netherword* and a mysterious Warrior bent on destruction.

Characters:

Jayden = Red Ranger

-Leader with a Lion as his zord. Fire is his element. (Played by Alex Heartman)

Kevin = Blue Ranger

-Lives by the code of the Samurai. His zord is the Dragon and his power is Water.

Mike = Green Ranger

-Creative rebel who enjoys video games. His zord is the Bear and Forest is his element. (Played by Hector David Jr)

Emily = Yellow Ranger

-Innocent, sweet, and young. Her zord is the Ape and Earth is her power. 

(Played by Brittany Pirtle)

Mia = Pink Ranger

-Big sister. Her zord is the Turtle and Sky is her element. (Played by Erika Fong)

What If Tommy Oliver Was Red Zeo Ranger in Dino Thunder?

If Tommy still had his Zeonizer morpher, then he could've used it to morph and help out his students, Conner, Kira, & Ethan in Power Rangers Dino Thunder. In fact, he could have fought off Zeltrax and Tyrannodrones as they tried to kidnap him in front of Hayley's Cyber Cafe. Even after the kidnapping, Tommy could've summoned his Zeo weapons to battle Mesogog in the evil lair. With the Zeo flying power-kick, most of the lab equipment would surely be blown to pieces and Mesogog would no longer be able to create monsters & make them grow. The villains in this season would become a piece of cake for the Dino rangers to defeat and Tommy wouldn't need to become Black ranger. As epic as it seems, there's probably a good reason why the Zeo morpher wasn't used.

Maybe it served as a basis for the Dino Thunder morphers? Or maybe Tommy lost it in the lab explosion in the 1st episode when he jumped off of the island? Maybe he locked it away in a secret place because he thought his ranger days were over? No one knows the answer. People still wonder "What actually happened to the Red Zeo Ranger powers?" Well, it was last used in the "Forever Red" team-up anniversary in Wild Force and Tommy Oliver seemed to morph and fight as Zeo Red just fine.

Years later, in the Dino Thunder ep. "Fighting Spirit," Tommy laid unconscious in a hospital bed. In his mind, he was forced to fight his 3 past ranger forms (Red Turbo not included as this power was given to T.J.). Keep in mind that these are spirits and they aren't real. The Red Zeo Ranger showed up 1st and said, "Hello Tommy. Remember me? Zeo Ranger 5...Don't tell me you've forgotten already." Tommy replied, "But that's impossible." So...does that mean the Red Zeo powers no longer exist?

If that's the case, then that leaves people to question, "When was it destroyed, and how?" It's probably for the best that this mystery remains unsolved so that everyone can make their own assumptions. Hmmm...I really wonder if Tommy is just afraid that people will remember the embarrassing thing he did as Zeo Ranger 5 back in the day (bottom right picture). He must really be ashamed of himself ever since! It must have been all that hype over creating Dino Thunder morphers, weapons, and zords for his new team of rangers. Imagine how much money he blew off on this craze. If only he was the Bruce Wayne of Power Rangers, then things wouldn't have been so complicated. Why didn't he just ask Wesley Collins, the Red Time Force ranger, for money? The guy is rich and has a mansion!

I think there could've been an episode created in which Tommy tries to morph with his broken Zeonizer, just as Adam Park tried using his broken morpher to become the Black Mastodon Ranger once again in the PR in Space episode, "Always a Chance." The effects of such an act would be disastrous & the event would be a magnificent addition to PR history. That episode would allow writers of the show to make Tommy explain how the Zeo morpher got damaged after "Forever Red." However, if no one likes that story, maybe Tommy can explain how the morpher is too old and is drained of its powers?

All in all, whether the Red Zeo morpher was lost, transformed, or destroyed, the real fate rests in the hands of Tommy Oliver. His past ranger duties are now memories that he has left behind as he officially retires from being a Power Ranger. Unless, of course, the world is in desperate need of his help once again. Who knows? Things change...but for now, he can finally move on to living a simple life as a high school science teacher.

David Yost Reveals Why He Left Power Rangers Zeo

David Yost is the actor who played Billy, the Blue Mighty Morphin Ranger. His role was eventually reduced to a non-ranger one due to the Billy character becoming the Power Rangers' technical advisor, working closely with Alpha and Zordon in the Power Chamber.  

As a result of this, it has been rumored for a long time that he left Power Rangers Zeo because he was disatisfied with his lowered salary. Well, it has now been proven wrong as Yost explains in an interview with "No Pink Spandex," a Power Rangers News Coverage group. (See video below)

The real reason why David left the show was because he was called "faggot" too many times. The word was directed at him by co-workers, producers, writers, & directors because of his homosexuality. His co-stars were even called into different producers' offices where they were asked about his sexuality. Thus, it became hard on him to work in that type of environment and at the same time, he was struggling with himself over who he is as a person. He kept being made fun of and also got food thrown at him at times. David stated that he felt as if people were sending a him a message that, a gay person like him shouldn't be an actor and cannot be a superhero.  Finally, he made a decision that if someone name-called him one more time, he would leave. Unfortunately, it did happen and so he walked off the Power Rangers set one day, also fearing that he might take his own life in a suicide. Following this, David tried to figure things out and where his life was going. Who knew that such a terrible thing happened behind the scenes of the #1 kids' show of all time? It was for the best that Mr. Yost left because no one deserves to be treated like that. 

As for the Billy character, producers had to make up a story to write him off the show. In the episodes, "Rangers Of Two Worlds, Part I & 2", Billy is accidentally aged into an old man (played by another actor). After the Aquitians help him in the Land of Aquitar, Billy decides to stay there instead of returning to Earth as he has found his love. We will all miss you Billy. Everyone will always remember you as the 1st Blue Power Ranger!

After several years of remaining offscreen and working behind the scenes in other projects, people can finally see David Yost return onscreen in the 2010 film "Degenerate." Although it looks like an old movie, it is unsure whether it really is or not. It is possible that the footage may have been untouched for a long time and finally completed editing this year.

 

Jason David Frank Makes His Professional MMA Debut!

36-year old Jason David Frank won his professional mixed martial arts debut against Jose Vasquez on Aug. 4, 2010 at Texas Cage Fighting’s “Puro Combate” in Houston, TX. It took him only 46 seconds to submit his 265-lb opponent with a rear-naked choke, marking his 5th victory (4 wins during amateur career). As you may all know, Jason has been training extremely hard since the moment he stepped into this fight world. Along with his new nickname, "Fearless Frank," he now has a record of 5 wins, zero losses. Let's see how far the veteran power ranger will go in his new MMA career. Go green ranger! Oh, and don't forget white..and red..and black ranger!

 

Power Morphicon 2010

Hey all you Power Ranger fans! Hope you all had fun at the Morphicon convention held on August 27-29, 2010 in Pasadena, CA. This is the 2nd Power Rangers convention to date, with the previous one being held in 2007 in Los Angeles, CA.
